I look like my dead aunt in this photo, which is why I like it. I was named after her. She was an actress.
Today was my little sister’s prom. I spent the entire day prepping her for it: bought a boutonnière, got her nails done, hair done, make-up done. Had a mini crisis over which dress to wear (she had two made) and which accessories to put on. And then I had to drive her to the hotel (Peninsula Manila) where the prom was, because her date was going to be coming from the other side of the city, and if we were to wait for him, she was going to be late. She couldn’t be late because she goes to an all girls school with vague fascist aspirations. Also, she was one of the acts of the night (she sings).
My little baby sister is growing up. I went to my own prom about fifteen years ago. This makes me feel old.
